A preliminary ranking from market research firm iSuppli shows that Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is expected to have made big gains when all the chips have been counted at the end of the year.
AMD and Hynix Semiconductor will crack the top 10 this year, and AMD should jump from number 15 last year to number 7 this year on a 91 percent uptick in semiconductor revenue. Intel’s (INTC) chip sales slumped 11 percent.
*AMD revenues include its purchase of graphics chipmaker ATI, and Infineon’s numbers dropped mainly because it spun out Qimonda.
