— Buzz Aldrin, U.S. Astronaut and the second man to step foot on the moon, on NPR Monday. Today marks 40 years since Apollo 11 landed on the moon. While Aldrin and his co-pilots knew they were making their mark on history, they were also careful not to get ahead of themselves. Says Aldrin, “We were obsessed with doing the best that we possibly could so that we wouldn’t be premature, celebrating, jumping up and down–and while doing that, trip over the wire that goes out to the TV camera that’s recording all that we’re doing.” –Jessica Shambora
