Faster processors, better graphics and longer battery life. The prices stay the same.
Apple (AAPL) on Tuesday issued a long-awaited update to its most popular computer line, the MacBook Pro. It had been 309 days since the machines were last refreshed — 109 days longer than average.
The update covers six basic configurations, divided into two broad categories: two 13-inch models built around faster versions of the Intel (INTC) Core 2 Duo processor and four 15- and 17-inch models built around the newer Intel Core i5 and i7 processors.
As is its usual practice, Apple improved the machines’ speed, graphics and battery life, but kept prices roughly the same. The entry level 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,199. The 17-inch model starts at $2,299.
Adding more RAM, a faster processor and a 512 GB solid state drive brings the top of the line 17-inch MacBook Pro to $4,199.
