His schedule could include two major public appearances in the first week
Apple’s (AAPL) CEO, who was nearly incommunicado for much of 2009, is back with a vengeance in 2010. Not only has Steve Jobs been firing off e-mails to fans almost daily on subjects ranging from pornography to organ donation, but he is scheduled to make at least one, and perhaps two, major public appearances in the first week of June.
All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher announced Tuesday that Jobs has agreed to appear on stage the night of June 1 to kick off the Wall Street Journal‘s eight annual D Conference, the high-profile tech and media confab she co-hosts with Walt Mossberg. It will be Jobs’ first appearance at D since he shared the stage with Microsoft’s (MSFT) Bill Gates in 2007 (see video below the fold).
And on Wednesday Apple announced that its annual World Wide Developers Conference will begin six days later, on June 7, in San Francisco.
Jobs’ delivery of the keynote address the first morning of WWDC is an annual tradition that draws reporters and TV crews from around the world. Last year was the exception; Jobs was recovering from a liver transplant and the keynote was delivered instead by Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president for marketing.
It was during Jobs’ 2008 keynote that the press first remarked on the sudden weight loss that was an early indication of the health problems that led to his transplant operation.
