Every day, the Coins2Day staff spends hours poring over tech stories, posts, and reviews from all over the Web to keep tabs on the companies that matter. We’ve assembled the day’s most newsworthy bits below.

  • HP beat analyst expectations for its fourth quarter earnings, but only just slightly, with sales of $33.3 billion, up $2.5 billion compared to the same time last year. (Analysts had predicted revenue of $32.75 billion.) (internetnews)
  • Enterprise network and app provider Novell will be acquired by Attachmate Corp. For $2.2 billion. The company also agreed to sell some of its intellectual property assets to CPTN Holdings, a group of companies organized by Microsoft, for $450 million. (eWeek)
  • The News Corp/Apple-developed digital newspaper for tablets, the Daily, could be announced as soon as December 9. While News Corp is reportedly doing all the heavy-lifting in terms of developing editorial content, Apple could be tweaking iTunes billing to allow for proper newsstand subscriptions. (Electronista)
  • Foursquare is opening offices in San Francisco to draw more engineering talent. The company also revealed its userbase has exploded over the past year, from 100,000 to 4.5 million. (Mobile Marketing Watch)
  • Netflix heard and listened. The popular video streaming service will now offer a DVD-less, all-you-can stream plan for $7.99. The downside: it’s bumping up the prices for plans covering both DVD and streaming by $1 more a month. (The Netflix Blog)
  • Google introduced Google Apps Cloud, a plug-in bar that lets Microsoft Office users simultaneously edit and store their documents in the Apps Cloud. (Coins2Day)
  • Viacom pulled its previously-available Google TV content, which included Comedy Central, MTV Networks/VH1, and Nickelodeon. (Coins2Day)
  • Samsung has reportedly sold over 600,000 of its Galaxy Tab tablet since its launch a short 12 days ago. (Coins2Day)
