It is pretty clear Xoom is Google’s go-to Android 3.0 tablet, though Toshiba and others are readying a pretty impressive looking alternatives.
Details about the launch of the Xoom surfaced this weekend. Engadget tipsters sent in a Best Buy (BBY) sheet which seemed to indicate a planned February 17th release. Pricing varies between leaks from $699 to $799.
The Xoom is a 32GB, 10.1 inch tablet with a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor. Initial units will be 3G on Verizon while subsequent versions will have 4G connectivity (Q2 release). That screen shows an impressive 1280 x 800 resolution, 5 megapixel camera, 720p video recording and 1080p video playback. As for wireless, it sports 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. The battery, like Apple’s (AAPL) iPad is rated to be capable of supporting 10 hours of video.
