Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NYSE: AMD) has agreed to acquire SeaMicro Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif.–based provider of high-bandwidth microserver. The deal is valued at approximately $334 million, including $281 million in cash. SeaMicro has raised more than $50 million in VC funding from firms that include CrossLink Capital, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Khosla Ventures. Www.amd.com
Carpenter Technology Corp. (NYSE: CRS) has completed its merger with Latrobe Specialty Metals Inc., a maker of specialty metals and alloys. As part of the deal, Latrobe sponsors The Watermill Group and Hicks Equity Partners received 8.1 million shares of Carpenter stock, currently valued at $415 million (valued at $558m when deal was first announced).
