Mothers Day: 9 out of 10 moms would prefer an iPad to flowers

Think again. According to a survey released Tuesday by the shopping site TechBargains.com, 91% of mothers polled would much rather have an Apple (AAPL) iPad than yet another bunch of flowers.

What Mom wants and what Mom is going to get may be two different things, however. According to the poll:

• 27% of respondents are planning to give their mothers flowers this year
• 59% are going spend $50 or less
• 33% are going to give them nothing at all

The survey is full of curious and contradictory results, including the fact that despite their iPad dreams, most mothers don’t want their children to spend more than $50 on them, and only 18% are expecting gifts that cost $250 or more. (IPads start at $399.)

The poll was conducted from April 4 to April 25 via Facebook, Twitter and the TechBargains website and drew 1,547 responses. You can see the full results here.
