Ooyala, a Mountain View, Calif.-based provider of video streaming, analytics and monetization solutions, has raised $35 million in new VC funding. Telstra Applications and Ventures Group (Australia) led the round, and was joined by return backers Sierra Ventures, Rembrandt Venture Partners and CID Group.
Astute Networks, a San Diego-based provider of solutions for accelerating virtualized server, desktop and cloud computing environments, has raised $12 million in Series B funding. Samsung Venture Investment Corp. Led the round, and was joined by Ayala Capital, ICCP Venture Partners, TIFF and return backers Tallwood Venture Capital and Narra Venture Capital.
Heavy Bits, a San Francisco-based maker of the SnapGuide app and web service for creating and sharing “how to” guides, has raised around $5 million in second-round funding, according to an SEC filing. Backers include Atlas Venture and Index Ventures. The company was founded in 2010 by Daniel Raffel (ex-Yahoo) and Steve Krulewitz (ex-Google).
Nutmeg, a UK-based online investment manager, has raised £3.4 million in new VC funding. Pentech and Daniel Aegerter co-led the round, and were joined by Tim Draper and Klaus Hommels.
