FORTUNE — Venture capitalist Fred Destin has agreed to join Accel London as a partner, effective in September.
Last month we reported that Destin was leaving Boston-based Atlas Venture after more than a decade, largely so that his family could move back to Europe. He had originally joined Atlas when it still had a large European presence, but moved stateside in 2010 after the firm decided to focus all of its efforts in the U.S.
At Accel London he will be reunited with former Atlas colleague Sonali De Rycker, with whom he worked for four years.
“Sonali and I challenge each other hard, but really she is one of my favorite people in the venture industry,” Destin says. “I used to call her my work sister.”
Destin also has a history with Accel London partner Harry Nelis, with whom he served for years on the board of French online business travel solutions startup KDS.
He expects to focus mostly on early-stage consumer technology opportunities in the UK, France and Germany.
Accel London raised $475 million for its fourth fund in early 2013, but only began calling down the capital recently. Destin is expected to remain on the board of London-based Atlas portfolio company Zoopla, which is said to be considering an IPO.
