1. Kinder Morgan consolidates
The oil-and-gas empire plans to consolidate into a single company, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The company said the previous arrangement of partnerships had become too difficult to maintain.
2. Disney and Amazon are fighting
If you want your copy of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” at your house on its release date, you’ll need to look somewhere other than Amazon. The e-retailer is in a dispute with Disney that’s similar to its fight with book publisher Hachette, and has stopped taking pre-orders of Disney titles.
3. American Apparel
The Los Angeles-based clothing company is still courting controversy. It’s now under fire again for reportedly posting a racy back-to-school campaign on a social media account that targeted young girls. Earlier this year American Apparel’s founder Dov Charney was fired by the retailer’s board amid allegations of lewd behavior.
4. Some 2.2 million people have already seen The Expendables 3
Pirating movies is a serious issue for studios, and the upcoming action flick is a textbook example. Lions Gate has filed a lawsuit, and Sly Stallone is sure to be very, very angry.
