Wearable Intelligence is one of several startups working to apply wearable technologies like Google Glass to enterprise markets, such as healthcare and energy. Now it has raised around $8 million in new venture capital funding, according to a regulatory filing.
Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round, with partner Barry Eggers becoming the third member of Wearable Intelligence’s board of directors (joining co-founders Yan-David Erlich and Ryan Junee). The San Francisco-based company previously raised seed funding from such firms as Andreessen Horowitz, First Round Capital, Google Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Initialized Capital and Subtraction Capital.
Wearable Intelligence currently has four products in market, each of which is based on a modified version of Google Glass (in some cases both the hardware and software). They include Director, which provides healthcare clinicians and energy field workers with a hands-free workflow system for performing standardized checklists and procedures, and Mentor, which provides real-time data alerts like a patient’s vital signs for surgeons or telemetric data for oil-rig operators.
