Hello, friends and Coins2Day readers.

Big day today — tax inversions, European drama and even some news from your favorite brand of plastic blocks!

Motorola is making an announcement

September is for smartphones, apparently, and sandwiched between yesterday’s Samsung release and next week’s mysterious Apple event in Cupertino is today’s Motorola announcement. Motorola is unveiling its new phone today in Chicago, though with all the rumors swirling about the competition one can’t guess they’ll get much of a media halo.

Lego er konge

That’s “Lego is king” in the company’s native Danish. Riding the success of “The Lego Movie,” Lego has become the world’s largest toy company, beating out Mattel. President Business would approve.

Another day, another inversion

American drug company Hospira is the latest to attempt a tax inversion deal. Reuters is reporting that the midwestern company is looking to buy the medical nutrition unit of Danone, a French firm most famous for producing yogurt. ‘

Jobless claims are in today

It’s generally been a good summer for jobless claims, with numbers tending to be lower than in recent years. Will the trend continue as the weather cools down? The first indication will come this morning when ADP reveals their numbers. Today, we get the number of people who filed for unemployment last week. Tomorrow, we’ll find out the unemployment rate for the month.

European markets haven’t sunk on continued Russian problems

Ukraine’s prime minister said that Vladimir Putin wants to bring back the USSR. Ceasefire or no, that doesn’t sound like calm. Still, European markets are up a bit today, despite the ongoing tension.
