At the White House cybersecurity summit Friday, Tim Cook — as predicted — used the opportunity to contrast Apple’s business model with Google’s, Facebook’s and Yahoo’s, using a variation of the old cyberchestnut “if you’re not paying for the product, you are the product.”
But he went further, making a lovely speech about protecting privacy in a dangerous world that, as a gay man, he personalized — made his own — by the simple repetition of the phrase “or love who they choose.”
CORRECTION: According to Apple, the repetition was a glitch in the White House video. Oops. Still a lovely speech.
