Retailing giant Target is extending its return window to one full year for certain purchases.
The one-year exchange period will only apply to items that are part of lines produced by Target, such as clothing brand Mossimo. Previously, the exchange window for all items was 90 days, CNN reports.
Why, exactly, is Target extending its time frame for people to decide if they really like that new shirt they picked up?

The goal is to offer a shopping experience that’s “inspiring and rooted in ease,” said Target’s chief merchandizing officer Kathee Tesija.
“Our enhanced return policy offers our guests convenience we think they’ll appreciate,” said Tesija.
In the competitive retail world, anything to make shoppers think you care more about them than the competition is a good move. Target is likely hoping that shoppers who know their own fickleness will choose it over rival retailers, knowing Target offers a long window to let shoppers change their minds.
