Vacation homes sales are up. According to survey results from the National Association of Realtors, they’re up by more than 57% over last year, and more than one in every five homes sold is a vacation home.

And so as Memorial Day weekend officially kicks off summer celebrations, these homes for sale in destinations around the country offer numerous settings for enjoying the outdoors by the beach or in the mountains or valley. They come with privileges like private beach and lake access, and they’re fit for groups with up to eight bedrooms. The selection here, provided by Realtor.com, range from just over $2 million to up to $24 million. This may be the first time this has ever been said, but let’s start off with a cheap house in the Hamptons.

East Hampton, New York

Price: $2.255 million

Bedrooms: 4

Bathrooms: 4

Square Footage: 2,400

By the star-studded standards of the Hamptons, this is a regular shingle house in the village. But it’s set up with enough bedrooms and equipped with enough entertaining spaces to make a proper vacation base. Inside a Great Room with fireplace and a gourmet kitchen. But more importantly outside, there’s the wraparound porch, the mahogany decks and blue stone patio, as well as the steel barbecue feature. But the jewel of the property is clearly the swimming pool in the backyard so privately bordered with hedges.

Tahoe City, California

Price: $3.095 million

Bedrooms: 5

Bathrooms: 4 full, 1 half

Square Footage: 4,389

For those who take to the mountains for the natural beauty and aquatic activities of Lake Tahoe, this 1977 angular contemporary in Dollar Point could sleep a fair-sized vacationing group. It has sweeping lake views, along with a deck perched above the privacy of pine trees going all the way down to the lake. It has a fireplace, vaulted ceilings, and the owners have access to a private pier, beach, pool, and tennis and bocce courts.

Santa Barbara, California

Price: $5.7 million

Bedrooms: 4

Bathrooms: 2 full, 1 half

Square Footage: 4,743

This 1982 single-story contemporary house in America’s Riviera boasts panoramic views of the ocean from indoors and out. The sloping landscaped grounds offer spaces to soak in the vistas at varying levels, and there’s no denying that pool with a view. The interior isn’t so shabby either, with an updated gourmet kitchen, four fireplaces, high ceilings, and travertine floors.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Price: $14.9 million

Bedrooms: 5

Bathrooms: 5 full, 2 half

Square Footage: 6,638

This Jackson Hole lodge made of Douglas fir, red cedar, sandstone, copper, and reclaimed barn wood offers easy access to Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and the National Elk Refuge. And closer to this home, two creeks for fishing on the east and west ends of the property as well as a lake and numerous outdoor spaces including a dining gazebo for taking in those Teton mountain views. Inside are cathedral ceilings, three fireplaces and a billiards room.

Kiawah Island, South Carolina

Price: $24 million

Bedrooms: 8

Bathrooms: 8 full, 4 half

Square Footage: 15,182

This barrier island off the coast of Charleston is a golfer’s haven and has an acclaimed beach. But for residents or guests of this mansion, which was built tough in 2006 to withstand the elements, there’s little reason to leave the grounds, with 200 feet of ocean front beach, a saline infinity pool with spa, and 5,000 square feet of verandas, walkways and private porches. Inside offers more upon more: a billiards room with a full bar, an additional antique bar in an entertainment space, and a theater with full service snack kitchen (that’s in addition to the full gourmet kitchen with two islands and the butler’s kitchen). The master bath has a steam shower and an outdoor shower. Also on the premises is a guest house with its own access to the pool, gazebo and beach.
