It’s true: Amazon will build a new cloud facilities in Ohio, according to a statement released Friday

The deal, which also includes fulfillment centers for Amazon’s (AMZN) retail business, promises to bring 1,000 jobs to the state “over the next few years,” according to the statement.

Paul Misener, VP of global public policy for Seattle-based Amazon.com, said Ohio’s work force was a key draw, and credited Ohio Governor John Kasich for pushing the deal, according to Geekwire.

Last summer, Ohio approved state tax credits of more than $81 million to help persuade Amazon to build the facilities in the state.

To support its massive cloud infrastructure, which is used by customers around the world to crunch numbers and store data, Amazon Web Services hosts huge data center farms in Oregon, Northern California and suburban Washington D.C. As well as other sites in South America, Europe and Asia.

The jury is out on how many long-term jobs are created via data center construction as most of these facilities, once online, are very highly automated. But that hasn’t topped states including Ohio, Iowa, North Carolina and others from offering huge tax incentives to win that business.
