The News app that Apple demonstrated last month at WWDC landed Wednesday morning in the third beta of iOS 9. Within a few hours, MacRumors had posted the hands-on video attached below.
News will replace a much-maligned app called Newsstand. I used Newstand a lot to get to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal on my iPhone, although getting there was always a two-step procedure.
It looks like News will also be a two-step. But once you’re in, there are a bunch of new features: Follow topics, save for later, share with friends, add your favorite RSS, discover new sources, etc.
