Samsung will release its upcoming Galaxy Note 5 smartphone at an earlier date than expected, T he Wall Street Journalreports, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Samsung, which is based in South Korea, is bumping up the Galaxy Note 5’s release date to mid-August. That may help the Note 5 from getting lost in the hype over Apple’s next flagship iPhone, expected to be released in September.
The Galaxy Note series is larger than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy line, putting it into the category of “phablet” smartphones with sizes between those of typical smartphones and those of typical tablets.
The news of the Note release date change comes just days after Samsung warned investors that its Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone has not sold as well as the company anticipated.
