Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie said at a campaign event in New Hampshire on Saturday that if he’s elected president he will implement an immigrant tracking system modeled after the way FedEx tracks its packages, and he wants FedEx CEO Fred Smith to design it, Reuters reports.

Christie stated that 40% of illegal immigrants originally come into the country with a visa and stay after it expires. If the government knew where to find them, they wouldn’t be able to stay. Christie explained his proposal:

“At any moment, FedEx can tell you where that package is. It’s on the truck. It’s at the station. It’s on the airplane,” he said. “Yet we let people come to this country with visas, and the minute they come in, we lose track of them.

“We need to have a system that tracks you from the moment you come in, and then when your time is up… however long your visa is, then we go get you,” he added. “We tap you on the shoulder and say, ‘Excuse me. Thanks for coming. Time to go.'”

FedEx packages are tracked by scanning a bar code during each step of the delivery process. Christie has not elaborated on exactly how his immigrant tracking system would work. FedEx has declined comment.

Other GOP candidates are also taking a tough stance on immigration reform. Donald Trump, current GOP frontrunner, promises that if he is elected he will build a wall on the Mexico-U.S. Border and deport all 11 million illegal immigrants.
