Jeb Bush is learning the hard way not to step on Stephen Colbert’s toes.

The presidential candidate, who will be a guest on Colbert’s first Late Show on Sept. 8, has already started to use the appearance for donation opportunities, asking his supporters to donate $3 or more for a chance to win VIP tickets to the taping.

But Bush hadn’t asked Colbert if the comedian minded that his show was being used to raise campaign donations.

“Here’s the thing,” said Stephen Colbert in a video posted Wednesday. “No one from Jeb’s campaign asked me if it was okay with me for Jeb to raise money off my first show. Where’s my cut of that sweet three bucks, governor, huh?”

Colbert is retaliating by making his own version of Jeb’s contest: “Jeb Bush on the Stephen Colbert Show Raffle.” The winner will also get a VIP ticket to the taping, as well as maybe even a dinner with the Late Show’s lead production accountant. (Bush’s contest awards the winner a dinner with his campaign national finance co-chair, Woody Johnson.) The winner also gets to submit a question that Colbert will ask Bush. Colbert suggested, for example: “Don’t you wish you consulted Stephen before launching your contest?”

The collections from Colbert’s raffle, which also asks $3 from each competitor, will go to the Yellow Ribbon Fund, a charity that has assists injured veterans and their families.
