If you picked up a package of pre-made pork burgers for Labor Day grilling, you may want to double check the brand. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recalled nearly 90,000 pounds of meat sold under the Johnsonville brand.
The recall applies specifically to Johsonville’s Cheddar Cheese & Bacon Grillers and follows on customer complaints of small metal pieces found in the pork patties.
“Although there have been just a handful of incidents reported to us, no injuries have occurred and we believe the risk to be minimal,” Johnsonville wrote on its website.
Only the frozen patty varieties have been recalled, both the 24-ounce cartons and 13.5-pound cases with the “Best Flavor By” date of Dec. 29, 2015 and establishment number “EST425B.” The products were sold in 11 states: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.
