For a while there, Bill Veghte was seen as a top runner to become Meg Whitman’s successor as Hewlett-Packard chief executive. But then he left in July to take the top job at SurveyMonkey .
Apparently there are no hard feelings—Whitman just joined the board of SurveyMonkey, which provides very easy-to-use online surveys.
In a statement Thursday, Veghte cited Whitman’s “vision, coupled with her track record of success and innovation at some of the most iconic software and Internet companies in the world, making her an extremely valuable addition to SurveyMonkey.”
Veghte, who spent many years at Microsoft (MSFT) before joining Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) in 2010, served in a variety of roles there including chief operating officer, chief strategy officer and executive vice president of HP Enterprise as a top lieutenant to Whitman.
The SurveyMonkey slot opened up due to the unexpected death of Dave Goldberg in May.
