Burning Man Festival in Nevada Desert
377801 09: People wearing illuminated costumes walk past the burning remains of a 52-foot tall wooden man September 2, 2000 during the15th annual Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert near Gerlach, Nevada. Despite high winds, dust storms, and a bit of rain, some 27,000 people camped out on a remote desert playa, or dry lake, for the week-long counter-cultural celebration of art and "radical self-expression." Burning Man may take legal action against Quiznos after the chain restaurant released an advertisement on Tuesday mocking the festival, the Associated Press reported.

Jim Graham, a spokesman for Burning Man, said Quiznos did not reach out to the organization prior to publishing the video. Festival officials believe that it infringes on Burning Man’s intellectual property, so they are currently consulting their legal team to see what action can be taken.

Burning Man is an annual gathering that attracts over 70,000 people to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada for a week. Graham says that they receive a lot of requests each year from companies that want to promote their products by capturing pictures and videos of them at the festival. Burning Man turns them all down.

If Burning Man does decide to take legal action, it won’t be the first time they’ve done so. Back in 2002, CNN reported that the organization filed a lawsuit against Voyeur Video for trademark infringement when the company disregarded rules on the festival ticket stating that “Commercial use of images…is prohibited.”
