Laurence “Lo” Toney has joined Google Ventures as a partner, per his LinkedIn profile.
Toney previously spent just over a year helping to lead The Catalyst Fund, a Comcast Ventures (CMCSA) affiliate that invests in seed-stage companies led by entrepreneurs of color. Coins2Day‘s Adam Lashinsky interviewed Toney about Catalyst earlier this year, and you can read the Q&A by going here.
Prior to Catalyst, Toney was CEO of education startup LearnStreet and held product positions with Zynga (ZNGA), Nike (NKE) and eBay (EBAY).
Neither Toney nor Google Ventures (GOOG) has returned requests for comment. Also no word yet on who will replace Toney at The Catalyst Fund.
Update: Google Ventures has confirmed that Toney has joined the firm, and that yesterday was his first day on the job.
