The Project Apollo Archive was originally created by space enthusiast Kipp Teague in 1999 as a personal collective of public domain photos of the space race. This week, Teague added thousands more new photos to the archive, showing rare photographs of the astronauts in orbit, the moon, and earth. The photos are courtesy of NASA, and the Johnson Space Center in particular. Here are the best photos of the bunch, chosen by Coins2Day photo editor Kacy Burdette:
