Michael Dell is planning to buy a home in Boston, a move that may calm some local nerves over what will happen once Texas-based Dell Inc. Completes its planned $67 billion purchase of EMC Corp. (EMC), the largest technology company in Massachusetts with around 9,500 local employees.

EMC is based around 25 miles west of Boston, in the small suburban town of Hopkinton (which is where the Boston Marathon begins each year), but Michael Dell tells Coins2Day that his new property will be within the city itself. He says that he already has provided a deposit, and will be visiting within a week to (hopefully) finalize the deal.

This would be one of several residences for Dell, whose other properties include homes in Texas and Hawaii.

He made the comments to Coins2Day during the annual Dell World event, during which the company announced that it will spin out its Virtustream cloud business into a stand-alone business, post-EMC merger.
