Theranos has spent the past week defending itself from The Wall Street Journal, which accused the blood-testing startup of everything from dishonest marketing to cheating on proficiency tests.

Company CEO Elizabeth Holmes admirably showed up, as previously scheduled, at a WSJ tech conference in Laguna Beach yesterday. But that wasn’t the only cosmic connection between the two organizations. When Holmes returned to work 400 miles north in Palo Alto, it was on a site where the paper was printed for 45 years.

Theranos earlier this year opened a new corporate headquarters at 1701 Page Mill Rd., which previously had been the WSJ‘s primary facility in Northern California.

The original building was constructed on an 8.5 acre site in 1966, but WSJ owner Dow Jones announced back in 2011 that it would be shut down before its lease expired in 2015. Theranos soon agreed to take on the site, began construction in early 2014, and now is all moved in.

So while Elizabeth Holmes may be upset with The Wall Street Journal, at least she can take some solace in knowing that her company is literally being built on the paper’s rubble.
