Amazon has considered launching its own line of baby food, milk and diapers. Now, the e-commerce giant is reportedly thinking about selling its own clothing line, according to Buzzfeed.
“For Amazon, we know our customers love brands, many of the brands in this room…and that’s where the lion’s share of our business comes from,” Jeff Yurcisin, the company’s vice president for clothing at Amazon Fashion and CEO of Amazon’s Shopbop unit, said at the WWD Apparel and Retail CEO Summit recently.
“When we see gaps, when certain brands have actually decided for their own reasons not to sell with us, our customer still wants a product like that,” he added.
Yurcisin added that these gaps could be filled by the creation of Amazon’s own private label, according to BuzzFeed.
The news comes days after Amazon announced it would buy Jabong, an Indian online fashion retailer.
Last year, a Coins2Day contributor noted that Amazon was courting big fashion retailers but suggested that they should be cautious about partnering with Amazon.
