Ben Fathi, former VMware chief technology officer, is apparently now multitasking. Two days after announcing a new gig as head of engineering at Cloudflare, an Internet security firm, he’s also joining the board of Cirba, a company that provides cloud management and analytic services.
Toronto-based Cirba helps customers manage jobs operating in the cloud. Its software basically monitors how applications are running in a given environment, and if it spots potential trouble re-routes those tasks to other cloud infrastructure.
Fathi spent three years at VMware (VMW) and before that was the senior vice president of network operating systems at Cisco. He was also previously a corporate vice president at Microsoft (MSFT), according to his LinkedIn profile.
Fathi was one of several VMware executives who left the company this summer.
Gerry Smith, CEO of Cirba, said the company is lucky to have Fathi join the team. “Ben adds value day one. At VMware he has been mapping out the evolving cloud infrastructure market for several years,” he explained. “He can help us steer our software development ensuring we continue to add maximum value.”
Meanwhile, thanks to his position at VMware, he also knows chief technologists at Coins2Day 1000 companies, understands the customer and where they are headed, Smith added.
