Tech workers of America—we’ve got some good news for you. The latest salary guide from staffing company Robert Half is predicting significant pay bumps for workers in some tech positions next year, along with an overall boost in pay across the tech industry.
Technology workers across the board are expected to see a 5.3% increase in base salary in 2016, ahead of the 4.1% pay bump predicted for the nation’s workforce as a whole.
“Strong demand and a limited supply of professionals with digital competencies have put job seekers in the driver’s seat,” John Reed, senior executive director of Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group, said in a statement. “Businesses risk losing good people to prospective employers who promise more money or new challenges.”
“Companies continue to struggle to find professionals who can help create seamless digital experiences—from collecting and analyzing customer data to building secure e-commerce environments to providing intuitive, easy-to-navigate websites,” Reed said.
Robert Half points to eight tech jobs that could see particularly large bumps in salary. Wireless network engineers lead the list, with a predicted 9.7% gain putting them at an average starting salary range of $108,750 to $150,750. Big data engineers and data scientists also scored highly, both with 8.9% salary increases expected in 2016.
