In the wake of Donald Trump’s proposal to ban all Muslim immigration to the United States, the Internet is comparing him to one of modern fiction’s most piercing depictions of evil—he-who-must-not-be-named himself, Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter series.
Voldemort, if you recall, was a violent, dark wizard who led his band of followers, known as Death Eaters, on a crusade to rid Britain of people it deemed to have lower blood—namely muggles (people who aren’t wizards), mudbloods (wizards born of two muggle parents), and blood traitors (pureblood wizards who associate with and support muggles and mudbloods.)

This isn’t the first time a politician has been compared to famously evil characters. Former Vice President Dick Cheney has even embraced his comparison to Star Wars villain Darth Vader.
