Former Intel president Renée James has joined the board of directors of business technology giant Oracle.

With James taking a seat on the board, Oracle (ORCL) now has 13 directors, the company said on Wednesday. Other notable board members include Oracle CEOs Safra Catz and Mark Hurd, and former Central Intelligence Agency Director Leon Panetta.

“She will bring a unique perspective and tremendous depth of experience and knowledge of the technology industry to our Board,” Oracle chairman and chief technology officer Larry Ellison said in a statement.

James worked at Intel (INTC) for 28 years and was the company’s highest-ranking woman in its history. During the summer, Intel said she would leave the chip giant to pursue a CEO role outside the company, but would remain with the company through January.

She was named president of Intel in 2013 on the same day long-time Intel employee Brian Krzanich was picked as CEO.

Besides helping to lead one of Silicon Valley’s biggest technology companies, James was also known for her work to improve diversity within Intel. In January, James helped Intel launch a $300 million diversity initiative to train and recruit women and underrepresented engineers and computer scientists.

She was also a 2014 member of Coins2Day’s Most Powerful Women list.
