Donald Trump, who remains firmly atop the polls among Republican candidates for President, told reporters Wednesday he will start spending money to run television ads.
Trump said in Iowa that he plans to spend $2 million per week on TV ads in the first three voting states, according to the Associated Press. So far, his campaign has spent nothing on television, although he’s used $300,000 for radio ads. Meanwhile, Jeb Bush has spent a reported $40 million.
“I don’t think I need to spend anything. And I’m very proud of the fact that I’ve spent the least and achieved the best result,” Trump said to reporters. “I feel I should spend. And honestly I don’t want to take any chances.”
“I’ll be spending a minimum of $2 million a week and perhaps substantially more than that,” he added. “If somebody attacks me, I will attack them very much and very hard in terms of ads.”
