Huisken Meat Company is recalling some of its Sam’s Choice beef products sold at Walmart that may contain fragments of wood.
The USDA announced that a recall has been issued for nearly 90,000 pounds of Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion frozen beef patties that were produced between Nov. 19 and Dec. 9, 2015. Pieces of wood were discovered by workers during the production process in an ingredient purchased by Huisken from an external supplier.
The recall affects 2-pound boxes that contain six beef patties. Each box is labeled with a use by date of May 17, May 29, or June 6, 2016. The products, which are sold exclusively at Walmart (WMT) stores, had been shipped nationwide.
The recall has been categorized as Class II, meaning that there is a health hazard, but the risk is low. Though no consumers have reported any injuries, the company urges anyone who purchased the product to either throw it away or return it to the store.
