Game of Thrones fans are gearing up for HBO’s most popular show to return in April, and now they’ve been given even more good news.
HBO, which is owned by Time Warner (TWX), is currently nearing a deal to re-up the show for two more seasons—seven and eight, an HBO spokesperson confirmed to Coins2Day.
Season 6 of the show is set to debut on April 24, and will be the first season to chronologically surpass the plot line of the George R.R. Martin book series, Song of Ice and Fire, upon which the program is based.
Martin has yet to complete the next book in the series, Winds of Winter, though the author has been working closely with the show’s creators so that they know how the story is supposed to end. Nevertheless, the show outpacing the book has made literary fans a bit nervous about spoilers.
Game of Thrones is the most popular show in HBO history and perhaps unsurprisingly, is also the most pirated TV show of 2015.
