Home Depot (HD) announced that it is planning to hire over 80,000 new people.
“There’s no better time to join our team than spring,” human resources executive vice president Tim Crow said in a press release. The Coins2Day 500 company is searching for people to fill various positions at both stores and distribution facilities. It has almost 2,000 stores nationwide and 75 distribution centers, including Rapid Distribution Centers that help restock stores as well as three new Direct Fulfillment Centers that take care of customers’ online orders.
Home Depot, the biggest home improvement retailer in the world, is accepting applications on its careers site from college students, retirees, and anyone in between. It’s looking to fill several types of positions including sales, customer service, operations, and cashiers.
Spring is the retailer’s busiest season, so it’s unlikely that all its new employees will transition into permanent positions, though the release stated that over half of its seasonal employees last year did.
Via email, a Home Depot spokesman tells Coins2Day the hiring plans are “not a forecast of our spring. We always hire about this many.”
