Hormel (HRL) has issued a voluntary recall of some of its beef products after an incident at one of its plants.
Following a routine inspection, the company discovered bits of a broken flashlight in its production area. Hormel had already shipped out 40 cases, which adds up to 450 pounds of the product, to be sold in stores. The recall affects 15 oz. Cans of Dinty Moore Beef Stew with Best Buy dates of Feb. 2019, and were available for purchase at Kroger locations in Texas and Louisiana since Feb. 1.
It has been labeled as a Class II recall by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, meaning that there is a health hazard present, but it’s low. No one has reported any injuries and no one has issued any complaints with the company, but Hormel and the USDA maintain that consumers shouldn’t consume the product, and either return it to the store or simply throw it away.
