Only a select few will walk away from the 58th annual Grammy Awards on February 15th with one of the prized golden gramophone statues. But there are 150 hard-working presenters as well as entertainers performing at the ceremony who show up for rehearsals and then deliver on event night. Most aren’t nominated for awards and so won’t rate the coveted prize.
But the consolation is pretty sweet: more than $22,000 worth of gifts by Coins2Day’s calculation when you tally up the swag — the goodie bag offerings, plus all the stuff available in gift lounge.
Marketing company Distinctive Assets, which has been assembling the event’s gifts for the last 17 years, this year has included trips, gift certificates, jewelry, clothing, snacks, and other luxurious goodies, big and small.
The lounge is an interactive experience, in which the lucky 150 get to browse and pick out what they’d like. “It’s a convenience thing and fun thing for the celebrities to do while waiting in rehearsal,” Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary told Coins2Day. “They call it trick or treating.”
The gift bag, a piece of luggage packed with goodies, is then delivered to the celebs’ hotel or car.
Trick or treating
The most expensive gift, at $6,180, is the Fit Club TV “Ultimate Fitness Package.” It’s a deluxe experience: 7 nights at a Hilton Head Island fitness resort called Live in Fitness. It comes with menu planning by a nutritionist and chef, sessions with a life coach, and a customized fitness plan. The resort’s website, Fit Club TV, also throws in fitness apparel and health and performance “supplements”. Just in case some of the VIP entertaining that surrounds the Grammys might have packed on a pound or two.
There’s a certificate for an hour-session of ultherapy, which is billed as a non-invasive ultrasound skin tightening technique. New York City upscale plastic surgeons Stafford Broumand and Daniel Maman provide the treatment, valued at $5,500. Who doesn’t want to look their best when confronted by the paparazzi?
There’s also a $2,250 certificate for organic, gluten-free, and vegan cocktail service, courtesy of the Los Angeles-based The Natural Mixologist. Anyone experiencing a tense time while running through their lines can also get a drink at the lounge.
Then there is $1,000 worth of interior decorating services Koi Interiors, an interior decorating firm with offices in New York and Los Angeles. Another $1,000 voucher can be used for a week’s retreat at Travel + Leisure’s number one choice for destination spa: Japanese-style wellness spa Golden Door Resort & Spa in San Marcos, California.
Recipients will be able to take a private tour of the facilities of Big Cat Rescue, a Tampa, Florida-based non-profit that says it provides a “permanent home for unwanted, abused, and neglected exotic cats.” It’s valued at $500. Renee Lynn, who bills herself as a “medical esthetician to the stars,” will provide a “24K Gold Facial” and a bottle of a nutritional supplement called “YouthBlast” that is supposed to improve someone’s looks and mood, together valued at $460.
And there’s so much more, including infrared hair care equipment from haircare and salon product manufacturer Tools by Gina ($250), a customized gaming console controller ($300) from consumer electronics company SCUF Gaming, a designer chocolate gift box including a 23k Gold-salted caramel pecan praline from Phillip Ashley Chocolates ($199), women’s clothing from apparel company Belldini ($300), a gift certificate to any of the establishments owned by Patina Restaurant Group, or a pair of eyeglass frames from manufacturer Marchon Eyewear ($150 to $350).
The Grammys go live on CBS at 8pm ET on Monday, February 15 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
