Six people are dead and two are injured after a man reportedly went on a shooting spree in Kalamazoo, Mich., Saturday night.

The alleged shooter, Jason Dalton, is reportedly an Uber driver who was taking passengers on high-speed rides across the city in between the slayings. He stopped and opened fire in three separate locations over the course of more than four hours, according to the Associated Press.

Dalton was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning and will be arraigned on charges of murder and attempted murder, state police said.

Dalton is said to have started his rampage at an apartment complex where he shot and wounded one woman, then drove to a car dealership where he shot and killed a father and his 18-year-old son. He then reportedly drove a group of passengers to a hotel before driving to a nearby Cracker Barrel parking lot and shooting 5 people.

The victims, which include a seriously injured 14-year-old girl, appear to have been targeted at random.

An Uber spokesperson confirmed to local TV station 24 Hour News 8 that Dalton was a driver for the service and had passed a background check. In a statement, Uber’s chief security officer Joe Sullivan wrote: “We are horrified and heartbroken at the senseless violence in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this devastating crime and those recovering from injuries. We are reaching out to the police to help with their investigation in any way that we can.”

“It’s hard to put into words the impact something like this has,” Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting said during a news conference Sunday. “How do we put an end to the fear this is causing? There’s this sense of loss, there’s anger, there’s fear.”
