No, we’re not talking about a billion-dollar tech startup getting liquid but an actual unicorn.

Or rather, a pony dressed in a fake golden horn and pink bridle.

Juliet, a white Shetland pony, made a break for freedom Wednesday night, during a fairy-tale photo shoot in Madera Ranchos, California, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The 600-pound animal made a run for it twice during the photo shoot. Though her owner, photographer Sandra Boos, managed to bring the animal in the first time, the 20-year-old pony ran much further in her second attempt, prompting an onlooker to call the police at 5:30 p.m.

At first, California Highway Patrol officers were convinced reports of a “unicorn-like” animal on the loose came from someone on hallucinogenics.

“Initially he thought it might be somebody out there on drugs, seeing things,” said CHP spokesman Josh McConnell to the Los Angeles Times. “It was a little unreal to hear calls of a unicorn running around on the roadway.”

The industrious pony led California police on a close to 4-hour pursuit in the dark. Police had to whip out helicopters and thermal imaging to find the equine escapee. It wasn’t until officers brought out one of Juliet’s horse friends that the white pony came out of hiding from an orchard.

Boos was given a stern warning, but no official citation.
