About halfway into Lent, McDonald’s is testing those who have given up sweets with its Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry.
The product is, as its name suggests, a combination of the classic McDonald’s (MCD) dessert and the iconic Easter candy. McDonald’s describes the product as “a delicious mouthful of chocolate pieces and Crème Egg topping, blended into a creamy soft serve.” According to the nutrition information on the fast food chain’s website it packs a whopping 54.4 grams of sugar, which is more than two times the daily recommended amount for the average adult.
Luckily for any American observers and diabetics, the sugary treat is only being sold in Australia and the UK, and only for a limited time. This offering can only be good news for Cadbury, which Coins2Day reported lost a huge chunk of sales during last year’s Easter season.
Despite a $14 million drop in sales for Cadbury, the holiday is still huge for sweets. Americans alone spent $2 billion on Easter candy in 2015.
