Steve Jobs bought the old Jackling House in 1984 and tore it down over the objections of preservationists in 2011, the year he died—too late to build the new family home he dreamed would replace it.

Now, according to a report in VentureBeat, his widow, Laurene Powell, is on track to win approval from the town of Woodside, Calif., to build her own dream house—a very different one—on the site.

Chris O’Brien and Jordan Novet have the details:

“According to planning documents filed… the new estate—on the more than 9 acres of land—would consist of a 3,706-square-foot main house plus a yoga studio (428 square feet), a sauna building (165 square feet), a hot tub, a plunge pool, a swimming pool, two guest houses (dubbed the “Orchard House” and the “Vineyard House,” 822 square feet and 1,250 square feet, respectively), a wine press building, an olive press building, a garden shed (1,063 square feet), and a “Garden Barn” (2,599 square feet).”

According to VentureBeat, the homestead that Powell wants to build is nothing like the relatively modest 5,768-square-foot house in Palo Alto that the Jobs family occupied since the mid-1990s.

Nor does it resemble the concept drawingsthat emerged several years ago when Jobs was still in the middle of his legal fight with preservationists.

For a glimpse at the new look, below is an architect’s site plan for Powell’s dream house, courtesy of the town of Woodside, via VentureBeat.
