Instagram famous pug Hamilton clearly got the memo about dressing business casual when going down to the stock exchange.
The black pug sported a mini polka-dotted tie to ring the closing bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square on Wednesday, alongside another online celebrity, Toast—a King Charles spaniel. They were also joined by other figures including Brian Shapiro, New York state director for the Humane Society, and television personality Josh “The Fat Jew” Ostrovsky.
The dogs represent the Shelter Pet Project, which helps rescue animals and encourages potential pet owners to turn to shelters before purchasing a future animal from a store.
Hamilton, who originally came from shelter in Ohio, can also now claim to have “made it in New York”— he appeared on a Times Square billboard today:

Toast was rescued from a North Carolina puppy mill in 2011. She has no teeth, so “her tongue hangs out like a cute hobo,” her Facebook page reads.
It’s not the first time dogs have been ushered onto the floor of the Nasdaq. Animal Planet has brought in puppies from their segment, “Puppy Bowl X,” while dogs from the 139th Annual Westminister Dog Show also popped in to ring the closing bell. Separately, a man dressed in a big red dog suit on behalf of Scholastic has also had the honor.
