CRF Frozen Foods recently discovered that a number of its products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The Pasco, Washington-based company has issued a voluntary recall of 15 different products. CRF discovered the presence of listeria during a routine testing, finding the bacteria in one lot of Individually Quick Frozen organic petite green peas and one lot of IQF organic white sweet cut corn. No illnesses have been reported.
Each of the 15 affected products includes peas or corn from those two lots. The vegetables were sold both individually as well as in packages of mixed vegetables and vegetable medleys, and were sold under four different brand names. Included in the recall are one Schwan’s product, two True Goodness By Meijer, three Wellsley Farms Organic, and nine Organic By Nature.
Packages range in size from 10 ounces to over five pounds, and use by dates range from Feb. 10, 2017 to March 16, 2018. They were distributed to retailers in 35 states and four Canadian provinces, with the possibility of being distributed to additional areas, between Sept. 13, 2015 and March 16, 2016.
According to a CRF spokesperson, the retailers include Meijer, BJ’s (BJ), and Costco (COST), where recalled frozen fruit was linked to a hepatitis outbreak earlier this month. They received official notification on Friday, April 22, with instructions on how to quarantine affected products.
