McDonald’s (MCD) is testing out a new “healthier” Chicken McNugget recipe. But don’t worry, the Mickey D’s staple likely won’t taste any different.
This recipe change nixes artificial preservatives from the menu item. A McDonald’s spokesperson told Coins2Day the new recipe is being tested at 140 locations in Oregon and Southwest Washington. The fast-food chain began testing in early March and hasn’t revealed whether or not it has any plans to roll out preservative-free McNuggets nationally.
The McNuggets are “still made with 100% white meat chicken, no artificial flavors or colors, and our signature seasonings and crispy breading,” according to the spokesperson, who described the new recipe as being “simpler” and something “parents can feel good about,” adding that customers in Portland have so far given positive responses.
Last week Coins2Day reported that McDonalds’ sales at established restaurants increased by 5.4%. This is the third quarterly increase in a row, following two years of declines.
