The National Enquirer claims that it has “photo evidence” that Ted Cruz’s father was associated with John F. Kennedy assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald.

The picture shows Oswald with a group of people, including one unidentified man the Enquirer says is Rafael Cruz, handing out pro-Castro leaflets in New Orleans. According to the Miami Herald, the photo dates back to 1963.

Rafael Cruz confesses in his book, “A Time for Action,” that he had at one point been a Castro supporter. However, when the Cuban leader formally declared himself to be a Marxist in 1961, Cruz became adamantly anti-Castro. “The U.S. Government was duped. The American people were duped. I was duped,” he wrote in his book. “When people ask me why I supported Castro in over-throwing the Cuban government, I readily admit that I didn’t realize he was a communist.”

Donald Trump has since grabbed onto the National Enquirer’s narrative to bash his opponent. “I mean, what what he doing? What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death, before the shooting?” The frontrunner said in a Fox News interview, according to the NY Daily News. “It’s horrible.”

The communications director for the Cruz campaign, Alice Stewart, has denounced the claims. “This is another garbage story in a tabloid full of garbage,” she said. The National Enquirer seems to have it out for Cruz. It’s the same tabloid that published a story claiming that he had affairs with five different women on the campaign trail.
