Topps sold a record 8,826 cards of New York Mets starting pitcher Bartolo Colon hitting his first-career home run on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell.
The card set a record for most on-demand sales under Topps’ new manufacturing model. The previous best was 1,808 cards sales for one that commemorated Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta’s no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds earlier in the year.
Colon became the oldest pitcher in Major League Baseball history to hit his first home run when he took San Diego Padres pitcher James Shields deep to left field at Petco Park.

Colon’s home run traveled 365 feet, according to Statcast, and left his bat at 97 mph.
In 228 at-bats, Colon is hitting.092 with two doubles, one home run, 121 strikeouts and no walks.
