Journalist Julia Ioffe has reportedly filed a report with the D.C. Police after receiving violent threats from apparent Donald Trump supporters.
The attacks on Ioffe, whose profile of Melania Trump was published in GQ last month, began after the presumptive Republican nominee’s wife shared a Facebook post calling the story “dishonest” and writing that Ioffe “clearly had an agenda when going after [her] family.”
According to the Washington Post, Ioffe filed the police report on April 29, alleging that she’s received a “threat to kidnap or injure a person.” The report states that Ioffe says that “an unknown person sent her a caricature of a person being shot in the back of the head by another, among other harassing calls and disturbing emails depicting violent scenarios.”
Ioffe says that many of the threats have been tinged with anti-Semitism (she is a Russian-Jewish immigrant). The writer re-purposed one the threatening memes that have been made about her on May 4, which Holocaust Remembrance Day:
