Good morning, WMPW readers! Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has been suspended, the EU’s Margrethe Vestager blocked her first deal, and a Pakistani artist received a big boost from Beyonce. Want to pass on some news about an exceptional woman? You can find me on Twitter at: @laurascohn. Enjoy your weekend!

THE BIG STORY

Dilma Rousseff gets suspended

It's been a rough week for Dilma Rousseff. First, the embattled Brazilian president faced a vote on the impeachment process. Then, it looked like she would avoid one. But yesterday, the vote took place, allowing a political trial against her to go ahead. Rousseff, who was suspended from office, is alleged to have violated budget laws. She vowed to "never stop fighting." The trial could last for months, which means she could still be suspended during the Olympics, which kick off in Rio on Aug. 5.BBC

Deal derailed
It was her first veto, and it was a big one. EU competition chief Margrethe Vestager took a break from girding Google and blocked a 10.5 billion pound deal between O2, the U.K. Mobile division of Telefonica, and CK Hutchison, saying it would have led to "higher prices and less choice" for consumers.

The Bey bounce
Talk about a lucky break. Pakistani artist Samya Arif created a striking multi-colored interior for a taxi that wound up in Coldplay's "Hymn for the Weekend's" music video, which also featured Beyonce. The video, seen over 300 million times on YouTube, has helped Arif find global acclaim.

PARTING WORDS

Sexism in the city is a good little soundbite. I just think it is crazy. It is gender stereotyping and there is a sexual element to it. I wear heels on a night out but that is my choice. Wearing flats would not impair my ability to do my job.
—Nicola Thorp, the receptionist in London's financial district who was sent home from work this week because she refused to wear high heels
